Fort Portal Chief Magistrate's Court Holds DCC Meeting

The Fort Portal Chief MagistratesCourt on Wednesday held a District Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting chairedby the Chief Magistrate, HW Nabende Moses.
In attendance were stakeholders inthe justice chain who included the Resident City Commissioner, ResidentDistrict Commissioners, Regional and district CIDs officers, District PoliceCommanders, all Magistrates and state attorneys within the Circuit.
Also present were representatives ofCivil Society Organizations including International Justice Mission andRwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition, Advocates on State Brief, FIDA - Uganda,Uganda Law Society, Justice Centers Uganda, Bailiffs, among others.
Key discussions were on establishingnew Chief Magistrates' courts at Kabarole and Bunyangabo, juvenile justice,management of executions, timely hearings, and lack of state attorneys atHakibale and Bunyangabo courts.
Small working groups were formed tofollow up issues discussed and report back.
Speaker after speaker thanked theChief Magistrate for the anti-corruption efforts at the Court and reducingcomplaints.
The RDCs thanked the Court forensuring there is transparency.
